Unlike analog-based television sets, and just like computers, they will inevitably require software updates to fix bugs and support the latest changes in the ever-maturing DTV realm. This creates headaches for the companies and consumers alike—at present, this means the manufacturer mailing out the update (on thumb-drives or such) for installation by the set’s owner, or sending a technician to the person’s home. Both are costly, as well as intrusive.
