I Don't Have All Minute!

HDTVetc Live
HDTVetc Live
What a sad statement that today our lifestyles have a non-stop, fast-paced, treadmill mentality in everything we do. Even here in Montana, where I came to slow down and enjoy life, I find myself in a fast growing community full of transplants form Chicago, LA, Seattle—you name it—who can’t relax! We are a generation of shakers and movers. With all that said, the “get it now” society is instant—coffee, information, food…everything. I don’t have all minute to wait for the microwave to cook my stuff. I want it NOW!

Well, where am I going with this? Being in the magazine publishing business almost seems to go against everything I just said. Newspapers are dying, magazines titles are disappearing, and snail-mail is something the younger generation has no need for. We want our information, news, technology, and communications instantly. Most of us would admit that we get our news from the Web, not the Daily News Press. We receive our mail every second of the day—and stock data, banking, and purchasing are done with the stroke of a key or click of a mouse. So why do I print magazines? I have asked myself that same question over the last few years. Paper cost is up 23 percent this year—and freight…do I need to talk about gas/diesel pricing? We addressed these changing world attitudes years ago with the Flipbook™ version of HDTV Etc. One can receive and read an electronic signature of the exact print copy of our magazine for less money. This has grown faster than our print subscribers, and many magazines are now publishing only in electronic format.

When we receive a product for review, it is sent to our writers, and days or weeks go by as they evaluate the product. Their findings are written, edited, paginated, laid out, pre-pressed, shipped to press, printed, shipped to distributors, mailed to readers, and you enjoy the final product. We just lost about 60 to 90 days in the channel. Not anymore!!

You are about to see the launch of HDTV Etc. Live! Starting in February 2007, we will launch a virtual, interactive, live issue of HDTV Etc. magazine. We will instantaneously deliver press releases, new product introductions, reviews, live chat, industry giant interviews, Podcasts, and who knows what else. The magazine will be new every morning! You won’t have to wait two months for your next issue. The future is here NOW!

Happy surfing…www.hdtvetc.com (same bat time…same bat channel.).
